THE KEY TO A GOOD FINISH IS A GOOD START
Of course the finish is what matters in the end.
But to achieve a long lasting, quality paint job, we make sure the surface is properly prepared to be painted. That way we know the paint will stay smooth and healthy for years to come.
Some examples of our preparation methods are as follows:
*Wash surface by pressure or hand to remove dirt and/or loose peeling paint.
*Bleach and brush by hand areas most affected by mildew
*Scrape and sand peeling areas for a smooth finish
*Patch any imperfections or damaged areas (such as rotten wood)
*Caulk all seams and joints
*Prime surfaces as needed to prevent bubbles, peeling or poor adhesion
*Cover plants with PARACHUTES. Yes, parachutes!! Much lighter than heavy drop cloths, and much less suffocating than plastic. We make sure your plants are taken care of.
*Move all pieces of furniture
*Cover any surfaces to be protected (furniture, floors, carpet, fixtures, appliances, etc)
*Clean all surfaces to be painted to remove dust, cobwebs, etc and ensure proper adhesion
*Remove hardware and switch plates
*Remove wallpaper if applicable
*Repair or replace any damaged pieces of drywall
*Scrape, patch and sand any imperfections for a “smooth as silk” finish
*Patch expansion cracks with a flexible compound
*Caulk ALL seams, joints and trims.
*If baseboards are not being painted, we tape them. We don’t do this to help with the cut (for that we use a steady hand and a straight quality brush), but to protect it from getting specks from the roller’s “Overspray”.
*Sand any surfaces previously painted with glossy paint to make sure the new paint will adhere correctly. Most paints need something to “bite” into, and sanding creates grooves that will help it stick and last. No more bubbles or peeling flakes.
